DEEP DIVE: CELEBRATING BLACK LIVES
Examining History, Uplifting Joy, and Building Power
February – March 2021
Overview
Our very first Deep Dive held in February 2021 explored the Black experience in the United States from a multitude of lenses. From Venture Capital to Community Organizing, Music and Literacy to Creative Exploration, our instructors showed the breadth of Black power, Black genius and Black joy.
In tandem with Camp participants were offered the opportunity to attend weekly racial-affinity groups to find a safe space within which to explore their personal experiences. These three groups were as follows: Healing Space for Black Campers, (Led by Donnie Belcher, Co-Founder and CEO), Building Community for Non-Black IPOC Campers (Led by Alex La Torre), and Aspiring Allyship for White Campers (Led by Lauren Burke, Co-Founder and COO).
